When we breathe, we get rid of carbon dioxide. This can build up in anaesthetised patients and we think it leads to the 'hang - over' effect wherby the patient is dull for a day or so after an operation.
Because we monitor the amount of carbon dioxide being produced we can avoid this situation. Such equipment is of a specialist nature, but we have two units at the practice and use them daily on every anaesthetised animal.
